of petaluma was last seen in south lake tahoe - she was there for a new years music festival. good evening, i'm catherine heenan. tonight - grant lodes is standing by with more on the search. but first, justine waldman sat down with alyssa's mother today - justine? >> reporter: alyssa's mother does not think she ranaway, or that someone would want to hurt her daughter. all she wants to think about is getting her daughter back home as soon as possible. >> there is no other option she is coming home >> reporter: for the mother of missing teenager alyssa byrne. every moment without her daughter brings tears. kim byrne is trying to stay strong during the most difficult time of her life. for new years eve, alyssa went to south lake tahoe for the snowglobe music festival with a group of friends. a rave concert. her parents didn't really want her to attend. >> not crazy about her going, at 19 you have to trust your kids you can't hold them back >> reporter: for some reason, alyssa left her

friends and went back to their hotel. then vanished. >> surviellnce shows her in the hotel lobby. get up to go and that is the last anyone has heard from her alyssa usually texts or calls her parents to check in. >> reporter: now they have not heard from her in days. and her cell phone goes right to voicemail. her father and friends are looking for alyssa in tahoe. along with sheriff deputies. kim refuses to think someone hurt her daughter or that she isn't coming home. >> there are some doors you just can't hope. just focusing on hopesot keep prayers and good things and know that she is going to be coming home >> reporter: there is a facebook page if you like to

communicate and try to help out and try to find her and right now, grant has more on where this search is concentrated for the teenager >> that is correct. here's a map of the south lake tahoe area. alyssa byrne was last seen at the horizon casino resort in state-line nevada.where byrne and friends were staying. friends say they saw byrne at the horizon casino bar just after midnight january first. earlier that night - new year's eve - byrne and globe music festival at the lake tahoe community college. that's about 3 miles from the resort. crews are focusing their search in the area near the horizon casino resort.that's right along highway 50.just east of the lake.

possible replacement for david acres. that is coming up. >> catherine: he's arguably the most vocal member of the san francisco giants. now - sergio romo is being accused of being a little 'too' vocal with airport security workers in las vegas. the relief pitcher is in trouble after an outburst in the security line. kron 4's j.r. stone is following the story and joins us with more. >> reporter: catherine, you and i both know that sergio romo is one of the most colorful players on the san francisco giants. during the world series parade he wore a shirt that said, i just look illegal, an image that went viral. las vegas police say on new year's day between 8:30 and 9 there was an outburst between a tsa agent and romo. tsa officials tell me romo was unable to provide

identification required of travelers. this is a picture posted on new year's eve showing sergio romo at a nightclub in vegas called haze. in the photo you'll see that he's alongside 49ers football player michael crabtree. sources say romo became "angry and aggressive" with tsa security on new year's day. he was handcuffed and temporarily detained by police. >> he was in a verbal altercation with the t s a agents. when he calmed down we found that he was in violation of airport rules. and he was allowed to leave the airport. i do not see anything in our report that indicates that he was under the influence of a drug or alcohol. >> reporter: there are further witness statements that sergio romo had his fists clenched at one point during this argument with tsa security.

tomorrow on several chargesincluding two counts of murder. police say they'd pulled him over in connection with a shooting at a housing complex. they say he took off - ran a red light - and crashed into another car on south van ness. that driver was forced onto a sidewalk - and hit and killed a pedestrian. new information about the who also died. and the driver.who was injured. >> this 29 year-old his described as a loving and caring person. she was a san francisco resident and has a seven year-old son that still lives in guatemala. the night before the crash this restaurant was where she was working. the parents say that she was with them for the last 1.5 years. >> issue is a nice lady. >> the driver also suffered

april williams has more on the first steps -- on the long road to getting back to normal. >> reporter: it's been less than three weeks since they lost 20 of their classmates and six educators, but thursday sandy hook elementary students were back in class. >> "watching them get off the bus, most of the kids were excited, they had seen friends, they hadn't see in awhile, they anxious to get into the hallways and meet up with the other kids, and you could see the teachers had the same response, they were quite excited to see the students." >> reporter: the site of the december shooting is still part of an ongoing investigation, so the former chalk hill middle school in nearby monroe was re- purposed, and renamed sandy hook. >> "a great deal of thought and effort and volunteer work to make this as seamless as possible." >> reporter: to give the students a sense of continuity, desks and other familiar objects were brought to their new school. a number of parents spent the day there, discussing security and other concerns with police and school officials. >> "it was like the first day of school, everybody, there were counselors, there were therapy dogs, all the parents, there was a little bit of anxiety but i think everybody was i think happy to get back in the swing of things." >> reporter: police will likely have a presence for some time. the search and the family's >> reporter: no one has seen or heard from alyssa byrne since new years eve. deputies just said. her cell phone has not sent a signal since 12:03 a.m. on january first. they are working now to see if it was a phone call or a text. i spoke with alyssa's mother today. kim byrne told me alyssa went to tahoe with friends to attend a rave concert. called snow-globe. kim told me that. she started to worry about her daugther's wareabouts when she did not return calls or texts on new years day. not communicating with her family or friends is very unusal for the teenager. her mother is trying to keep it together. >> keep prayers and good things and know that she is there is no other option that she will be coming home. and alyssa was active on social media in the days leading up to her disappearance. we've taken a screen grab of her twitter page.

patricia tune-coon. here is video from the day of the accident. police say it was caused by a 19 year old gang member who had taken off after being pulled over in connection with a shooting. he allegedly ran a red light and t-boned the white toyota, sending in careening into the front of a liquor store, which killed francisco who was on foot. patricia- a passenger in the white car- -was declared dead at the scene. the driver of the toyota- patricia's 18 year old nephew- is in the hospital in serious condition. today friends, family and members of the community continue to pay their respects at the sidewalk memorial where the crash occurred. inside the liquor store, a collection is being taken for the two victims, in order to help the families return the victim's bodies back home to their native countries.
